3. Information Fields

AbeBooks offers booksellers several locations to enter key information that will assist with book sales. We expect all information listed in these fields to be true and accurate to the best of the bookseller’s knowledge.

1. Book Descriptions
   Providing effective book descriptions attracts buyers and contributes to increased sales. AbeBooks recommends the following information be included in book descriptions:
• Publisher
• Year of publication
• Place of publication
• Condition
• Edition
• Binding
• Dust jacket - yes or no
• Condition of dust jacket
• ISBN
• Description of details otherwise not stated or implied by the above attributes
2. Terms of Sale
   Booksellers may use the Terms of Sale field to state their business policies such as payment options, Return policies, and other important information potential buyers should know. The terms of sale are viewable on the book details screen and the seller info page. Return/refund policies cannot conflict with the terms outlined in the AbeBooks Bookseller Agreement and the Returns policy.
3. Shipping Terms
   The shipping terms field allows booksellers to communicate their shipping information to buyers throughout the checkout process. This can include average weight of a book, how items are packaged, if pricing includes insurance, etc. The shipping terms field is viewable from the book details page, and through all of the checkout pages.
4. Inappropriate Use of Information Fields
   

   Booksellers may not redirect buyers by means of their book descriptions, terms of sale, shipping terms, or book information to another Web site as an alternative to AbeBooks for making their purchases. Booksellers may not promote the benefits of another Web site or purchasing method through their book descriptions, terms of sale, or book information on AbeBooks. Once a buyer has placed an order through AbeBooks, booksellers may not reject orders and then contact the buyer to sell the same item through another method. Any bookseller found to be redirecting customers to another Web site is subject to a warning and possible removal from the AbeBooks Web sites, at the discretion of AbeBooks.

   All information must be provided only in the fields designated for it; information about shipping and returns cannot appear in a book’s description. No fields can contain information contradictory to AbeBooks’ policies. AbeBooks will, at our discretion, review and edit these fields to remove HTML code and any unacceptable text.

   Contact information must only be included in the specified contact information fields. AbeBooks provides designated fields for the following information:

• Email address
• Phone and fax number
• Web site URL
• Terms of Sale
• Shipping Terms
